Louis Deitelbaum

After the original Washington (Wiz) franchise faltered the team was moved to Dayton.  A search for a suitable owner led the league’s founders to Louis Deitelbaum, a Chicago insurance executive. 

Deitelbaum got the Rockettes moving forward yet several months later his financial ability caused him to turn the team back over to the league.

The Dayton Rockettes were not originally planned to be a team in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) in the first season,  1978-79.  But when the Washington Wiz failed to solidify, Dayton was the league’s option.
