FUN FACT :
- In 1979-1980 the Stars played several games in Madison Square Garden where the rent was $25,000.
- Was one of only two teams to ever go a calendar year without a victory. In 1978 they were 0-3.
- Althea Gwyn had a 4-game sequence with over 20 points & 20 rebounds each game. (38-28, 28-24, 28-24, & 27-20 >> 121 pts & 96 rebounds!)
- In Feb. 1979 the Stars defeated Coach Julia Yeater of the Minnesota Fillies. 6 Days later they defeated Coach Julia Yeater of the Milwaukee Does!

The History of the New York Stars:
The New York Stars were an original team in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) from 1978 to 1980.
This will be a chronological history of the New York Stars. It is currently being written. It will include drafts, transactions and games from a “newspaper perspective”.
