Larry Kozlicki, a Chicago attorney inspired by a women’s pro basketball game, led the ownership group of the California Dreams alongside investors Terrell Iselhard and Gerald Schenk during the WBL’s 1979–80 season. Their bold but short-lived venture included high hopes, charm school training for players, and star signings like Olympian Nancy Dunkle, before financial troubles led to the team’s early exit from the league.
