A Tribute to the Vision Behind the Dallas Diamonds"

Judson Phillips, the owner of several McDonald’s franchises, was the 1st owner of  the Dallas Diamonds in 1979. His 3 year plan of spending $300,000 forced him to quit in January 1980.

The WBL located Michael Staver, a local real estate investor, who rescued the franchise, brought in a new coach, and backed the team to the 1981 WBL Finals.

The History of the Dallas Diamonds:

The Dallas Diamonds were an expansion team added to the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) for the 1979-80 season.

This story is a chronological history of the Dallas Diamonds including drafts, transactions and games from a “newspaper perspective”.  This story is scheduled to be 9th of 9 stories to be written.
