FUN FACT :
The New Orleans Pride hosted the largest crowd in WBL history – 8,452.
Before they chose the name Pride – the other possibilties were: The Hurricanes, The Maskers, The Spirits, or The Basket Belles.
Why did the Simpsons buy the Pride? When they went to a football game in Mississippi that was poorly attended, they asked where were all the people. They were told everyone was at the women’s basketball game. This made Dr. John & Claudette aware of the future of women’s sports and moved them to contact the WBL.
