FUN FACT On March 30th, 1979 the 8-21 Gems hosted the 8-21 Milwaukee Does to see who was the worst team in the WBL. It took THREE overtimes before the Gems prevailed, 163-161.

The History of the New Jersey Gems:
The were an original team in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) and survived all three seasons 1978 – 1981.
This story is a chronological history of the New Jersey Gems including drafts, transactions and games from a “newspaper perspective”. It is scheduled to be the 4 of 9 stories to be written.
